Need a quick weekend trip? I would highly suggest Portland, Oregon.
Here is a list of some of the best food spots we visited (aka every place we went b/c it was all delicious):
1.) Olympia Provisions: Go for brunch. You will not regret it. Also, highly recommend sitting at the bar because you can watch the beautiful madness of the kitchen. We did not have reservations and waited about 5 mins before we were seated. (they do not take reservations for less than 5 people). We started with bloody mary's, which were pretty delicious. They cure all of their own meats there and you can tell b/c everything is so fresh. We had the polenta, sausage and eggs. We also treated ourselves to a charcutiere plate.
2.) Laurelhurst Market: If you go anywhere in Portland, make this THE PLACE. Everything we had was perfectly seasoned and cooked. If they have the chilled corn bisque with crab and foie gras --- GET IT. You will not regret anything on this menu and the servers are really helpful in choosing dishes if you tell them what you like.
3.) Chizu - We stopped in for a quick snack in between meals and were very pleasantly surprised. This is a great concept - a sushi bar but for only cheese. You can choose an omakase style or choose your own. The woman who works here knows so much about each cheese, it is super impressive. She can also pair your wine, and accotroumaints to whatever you choose.
